About Dr Helen Allergy
Hi, I'm Dr Helen and I am responsible for creating the first UK Allergy Help Course for parents and caregivers. I am a GP and allergy specialist and began my life in the allergy world 14 years ago when my son Ethan was born. Suddenly, I was thrown into the world of eczema and food allergies and it caused me to change direction and retrain in allergy because I realised I knew nothing about how to keep him safe. Since then, I have been passionate about providing better care for the allergy community and trying to increase education amongst doctors and nurses.
All modules are recorded and available to you for life-long access. Having access to the Membership group will give you unique ongoing support as you can join our experts for their live Q&A's - ask anything you need, as well as have any posts answered every day or two. You will no longer be alone on your allergy journey. Our wonderful members and experts are here to support you, to make you feel heard and understood.

Francesca Sawer, Clinical Psychologist
Francesca is a chartered clinical psychologist, specialising in paediatrics and child development. She has worked in some of the UK’s leading children’s hospitals and currently works at Great Ormond Street Hospital. After working in a children’s allergy service, Francesca developed a keen interest in this area.
Research shows us that children with allergies can experience higher levels of anxiety, lower mood and reduced quality of life than their peers, yet psychological support for allergies is often neglected from children’s treatment plans. Allergy anxiety cannot always be addressed in the same way as other anxieties, as in most cases the worries associated with allergies are very real. However, this does not mean it cannot be supported. Learning ways of recognising anxiety and having practical tools and strategies to manage will go a long way in leading you and your child to a fulfilling life and not one ruled by fear. Francesca will show you how to manage the anxieties associated with allergies and eczema, and help guide you to improve their life.

MODULE 2 – IgE Mediated Allergies and Understanding Hives
Dr Helen will discuss the signs and symptoms of IgE mediated allergies and how this can be diagnosed from the information we are given. She also explains what else might cause hives; very useful if you cannot pin point what is causing your child's reactions.
MODULE 3– Non IgE Mediated Allergies
Dr Helen will explain the different ways in which a Non-IgE mediated allergy presents. She will help you understand how this condition is diagnosed and it is vital to watch this before watching the milk ladder module. Learn what to watch for when milk products are reintroduced.
MODULE 4 – Non-Allergic Causes of Rashes In Children
Dr Helen will help you understand why other foods can cause rashes, without it being an allergy.
MODULE 5 – Testing For IgE Mediated Allergies
Dr Helen will teach you about the different ways in which IgE mediated allergies can be diagnosed. She will explain what the tests mean and help you understand about the severity of possible reactions.
MODULE 6 – Confirming The Diagnosis Of Non-IgE Mediated Allergies
Dr Helen will explain why allergy testing cannot be done for those with Non-IgE mediated allergies. She will explain how the diagnosis is made.
MODULE 7 –Management Advice For Those With Milk Allergies
Dr Helen will give you all the information you need to understand how to feed your child with a milk allergy, regardless of the type of allergy they have. She will discuss all the options and help you work out what is right for your child.

Lucy @childrensdietitian will teach you what nutrients are missing if your child is on a milk-free diet. She will explain how these can be replaced and give you the confidence to know your child is meeting their requirements.
MODULE 9 - Milk Ladder
Lucy @childrensdietitian will discuss when to start food reintroduction ladders. She will outline how to pick apart reactions vs other possible causes of symptoms. We know so many families struggle with progressing along the ladders and Lucy will give you all the skills, confidence, and importantly, practical tips on how to do this.
MODULE 10 – Managing Fears Associated With Milk Allergies
In this module, Francesca @drfrancescas will explore the psychological impact of living with allergies and give tips to help parents and caregivers manage both their own fears around allergies, as well as supporting their children to manage their worries.
