About Dr Helen

Hi! I'm Dr Helen and I'm here to help you take back control of your lives and stop the misery that hayfever causes. As a hayfever sufferer myself, I understand how horrible life can be with hayfever. In fact, during my GCSE exam period, pollen counts were so high and my eyes were so swollen, that I did not achieve my expected grades: a problem that is well recognised for hayfever sufferers. Did you know that time missed from school and work is increased if you are a hayfever sufferer? How can we be expected to concentrate when our symptoms are so overwhelming?

Here's the challenge: GPs are being encouraged to ask patients to self-manage their hayfever, to buy their medications over the counter. This means that we as hayfever sufferers are not getting the help or information we need and deserve to manage our conditions well.

I'm here to change that.

Hayfever is getting worse year on year and yet access to help is increasingly limited; it was seeing this need that led me to develop a course for you to fill the gaps in care which are sadly apparent in the UK.

Curriculum

Introduction to the Modules

All sessions are pre-recorded so you can listen to them on your own time. Sessions will be available for lifetime access of the business.

Module 1

What is allergic rhinoconjuncitivitis? An overview of the condition and the symptoms it can cause.

This will cover common causes of airborne allergy (dust, pollen, animal dander) symptoms, and the diagnosis. We will look at allergy tests and how to interpret these.

We will consider how food allergies can occur due to a cross reaction with pollens. We will discuss the symptoms that this causes and the risk of anaphylaxis.

Module 2

Managing allergic rhinoconjunctivitis: A Consideration of treatments available.

This will cover ways to minimise allergen exposure and the evidence around the various treatment options currently available. This will include alternative therapies, prescription medications and immunotherapy.

We will be looking at treatments for children, adults, pregnant women and breastfeeding women. We will help you all.
