About Dr Helen Allergy
Hi, I'm Dr Helen, and I am responsible for creating Allergy and Eczema Help Courses for parents and caregivers. I am a GP and allergy specialist and began my life in the allergy world 14 years ago when my son Ethan was born. Suddenly, I was thrown into the world of eczema and food allergies and it caused me to change direction and retrain in allergy because I realised I knew nothing about how to keep him safe. Since then, I have been passionate about providing better care for the allergy community and trying to increase education.

MODULE 1 – Eczema-What Is It, and How Is It Linked To Allergy?
Specialist nurse Odette Rodda will explain why eczema occurs and discuss how allergy is related to eczema and whether food or environmental allergies are related.
MODULE 2 – Treatments for Eczema – Considering all Options
Dr Helen and Odette will discuss mainstream and complementary treatment options for eczema. They will explain all the evidence and give you the skills to understand how to help improve your child’s skin.
MODULE 3 – Non IgE Mediated Allergies
Dr Helen will explain the different ways in which a Non-IgE mediated allergy presents. She will help you understand how this condition is diagnosed and it is vital to watch this before watching the milk ladder module. Learn what to watch for when milk products are reintroduced. .
MODULE 4 – Non-Allergic Causes of Rashes In Children
Helen will help you understand why other foods can cause rashes, without it being an allergy.
MODULE 5 – Testing For IgE Mediated Allergies
Dr Helen will teach you about the different ways in which IgE mediated allergies can be diagnosed. She will explain what the tests mean and help you understand about the severity of possible reactions.
MODULE 6 – Confirming The Diagnosis Of Non-IgE Mediated Allergies
Dr Helen will explain why allergy testing cannot be done for those with Non-IgE mediated allergies. She will explain how the diagnosis is made.
MODULE 7 – Common Feeding Problems In Infants
Dr Helen explains common symptoms which occur in infants. She discussed how they can be treated and how they might mimic allergy. This module is key to helping you interpret symptoms that may arise.
MODULE 8 – IgE Mediated Allergies and Understanding Hives
Dr Helen will discuss the signs and symptoms of IgE mediated allergies and how this can be diagnosed from the information we are given. She also explains what else might cause hives; very useful if you cannot pin point what is causing your child's reactions.

Odette Rodda , Dermatology Specialist
Odette is an Advanced Nurse Specialist for Children and Young People in Dermatology and Allergy at University Hospital Dorset, appointed in 2009. Odette has extensive paediatric nursing experience spanning over 30 years. In her current role, Odette leads and manages the children’s dermatology service, whilst continuing to provide independent nurse-led clinics for both dermatology and allergy patients. Odette has a degree in allergy, making her a highly specialist nurse practitioner. As well as her busy role looking after children and their families, she also gives her time to teach and share her knowledge. Odette also works alongside Dr Helen in her private clinic.
